What is S3 to S3 Project Data Transfer?
S3 to S3 Project Data Transfer allows archived project data to be securely transferred from Asite's S3 bucket to the client's Amazon S3 bucket.
This process provides a secure and faster approach, especially when dealing with large volumes of data, enabling continued access and management of archived project information.
NOTE: Data transfer is supported only to an Amazon S3 bucket.
When to Use S3 to S3 Project Data Transfer?
This transfer method is suitable in the following scenarios:
When a project has been completed or archived and the data must be retained for long-term use.
When organisations want to optimise data storage costs by moving archived project data to their own infrastructure.
What does this data transfer include?
This transfer includes the following project data:
Project files
All Attachments and Revisions (if applicable)
Form Data
Project Metadata
Prerequisites
Requirement | Description |
Amazon S3 bucket | A destination Amazon S3 bucket where the transferred project data will be stored. |
NOTE: Ensure that the destination Amazon S3 bucket has sufficient storage space to accommodate the transferred project data.
Requesting S3 to S3 Bucket Data Transfer
The Organisation Administrator must raise a request with the Customer Success team (customersuccess@asite.com) to initiate the transfer.
NOTE: This is an add-on feature and requires a license.
How Does the Data Transfer Work?
After a request is submitted, the client must provide the following details:
Destination Amazon S3 bucket name
AWS Access Key ID
Secret Access Key
AWS Region where the bucket is hosted
The client must configure the necessary permissions on their destination S3 bucket to allow the transfer.
Once the required details and permissions are validated, Asite will initiate the transfer from the Asite S3 bucket to the destination S3 bucket.
After the transfer is completed, Asite will notify you via email.
Viewing Transferred Data in the S3 Bucket
Log in to your Amazon S3 account.
Navigate to the destination bucket.
Open it and locate the project folder identified by its Project ID.
Open the project folder to access the transferred data.
How is Data Stored in the S3 Bucket?
After the transfer is completed, the project data is stored inside a folder named after the Project ID within the destination S3 bucket.
The folder structure is as follows:
Folder | Description |
Project Folder | The main folder that contains all project data, including Files, File Attachments, Form XMLs and Metadata CSVs.
Form data and metadata are provided in separate ZIP archives for easier access.
|
Form Data (ZIP File) | Contains all Project form data in XML format. |
Project Metadata (ZIP File) | Contains CSV files with metadata for project files and forms listing. |
NOTE: The Revision ID is used as the file name, and the original file extension is retained.
