Can Create Files from File Templates

Allows users to create files from file templates and edit supported files using aDrive Desktop or Microsoft 365 for the Web.

O365 System

The user must have the O365 system privilege enabled.

TIP: The O365 System privilege must be enabled by the Support Team. To request this privilege, contact support@asite.com.

Permission on File Template

Access is required to the file template being used.

NOTE: Folder permissions defined at the Default or Role level can be overridden by user-level permissions.

How Do I Create a File from an Existing File Template Using Microsoft Office for the Web?

Note: Only organisation-level administrators can add or manage file templates in the Admin tab. To request access, contact support@asite.com.

  1. Select the required Project.

  2. Navigate to the Files tab.

  3. Select the folder where you want to create the file.

  4. Click Upload (top-right).

  5. Select Create File.

  6. A pop-up window will display a list of existing file templates.

    • By default, templates appear in a list view.

    • Switch to thumbnail view using the thumbnail icon in the top-right corner.

  7. Locate the required file template.

  8. In the pop-up, click Create with Microsoft Word.

    • If the user's file preference is set to Microsoft 365 Web, only the Create with Microsoft 365 Web option will be visible.

  9. Enter a name for the file.

  10. Click Create file.

The system will create the file using the selected template and open it in a new tab. You can edit the file as required. Changes are saved and synced in real time.

Note: The file is saved as a draft when it is created. After completing your edits, publish the file from the Files Tab. For more information, see How to Publish an Edited File.
