Understanding Tasks on Files or Placeholders

This article helps you understand different tasks that can be assigned to your files or placeholders in Asite projects.

Users on Asite with required privileges can distribute files or placeholders to project team members for specific tasks to be completed within the due date assigned for the task.

While distributing files or placeholders to project team members, you can select a task with a due date.

For Acknowledgement

Applicable to: Files Only

You can ask other users to acknowledge receiving a file revision.

For Action

Applicable to: Files Only

You can ask other users to complete any particular action on the file revision by entering relevant task notes in the 'Subject' field.

'Task Notes' is a separate column under the 'Distribution' tab within the 'Files' area.

If you don't see this column, click the 'Customize' option at the bottom right, move the 'Task Notes' column from 'Available Fields' to 'Selected Fields' and click 'Update'.

For Comment Coordination

Applicable to: Files Only

You can ask other users to convert private aMessages to public for the selected file revision. A user receiving this task must be in the distribution of the said file aMessage and needs to be either the sender or recipient of the private aMessage.

For Comment

Applicable to: Files and Placeholders

You can ask other users to create an aMessage on the selected file revision or a placeholder. Click here to learn how to create an aMessage on a file.

For Comment Incorporation

Applicable to: Files Only

You can ask other users to publish a new file revision. This functionality is similar to the placeholder functionality. The only difference is that once you give this task to any user, they need to first acknowledge the 'For Comment Incorporation' task and then select the time for the task. Once this is done, the 'For Comment Incorporation' task is marked as complete, and a new 'For Publishing' task is assigned to that user with the task time that they selected.

For Distribution

Applicable to: Files and Placeholders

You can notify other users about any update to the selected file revision or placeholder.
