Clone a Project from a Project Template

This article helps you understand how to clone a project from a project template.

Pre-requisites:

Permission as mentioned below, on the project template from which a project is to be cloned:

  • To clone a project from the project template, 'Access to Use' or 'Admin' permission assigned to you, your organization or a user group in which you are involved.

Below are the steps to clone a project from a project template:

1. Right click on the template record which you need to clone as a project and select 'Clone Project' option.

2. You will see a 'Clone Project' window, key in all required fields:

Project Name - Name the new project which you are cloning from a template.

Client Name - To select the client organization for which you are creating this project, suggested names will come up as alphabets are keyed in.

Application Installed - Inherited from the template, this field cannot be edited.

Select Viewer - Inherited from the template, this field cannot be edited.

Geography - To select the appropriate geography from the dropdown list.

Status - By default, it is open and watermarked as project is created as new.

Subscription - Inherited from the template, this field cannot be edited.

BIM - To enable BIM (Building Information Model) in this project.

Instant Email Notify - To send instant email notification about new project to users across all roles.

Click 'Save' once done to complete cloning the project from selected project template.

A prompt will appear in case there are any unpublished workflow definitions in the template selected for cloning a project. In such a scenario, you will get an option to continue cloning the project without publishing those workflow definitions, or cancel the cloning if required.
