Models Navigation

This article will introduce you to the basics of Models’ navigation across the Asite platform and will help you understand how to search and filter your models.

Updated over a month ago

The Models tab in Asite enables the project teams to view, manage, and collaborate on 3D Building Information Models (BIM) within a centralised, cloud-based environment, CDE (Common Data Environment).

It has two primary sub-tabs:

  • Models – for managing uploaded or federated 3D model files (e.g., Revit, IFC, NWD, etc.).

  • Issues – for managing model-related issues such as design clashes, constructability issues, or H&S items.

How can we access Models?

To access a Model, click on the More option at the top and go to the Models option in the list. It will display the Models tab, where you can view all accessible models within your selected Project.

On the left-hand side, you’ll see the Project and Folder Structure, allowing you to navigate through different model folders easily. Selecting a folder will display the list of associated models and issues on the right-hand side. The information is categorised using two sub-tabs, namely:

  • Models

  • Issues

The Models sub-tab lists all uploaded or federated model files along with key details such as the Model name, publisher, date, and access information. You can use the Search bar or Filters option at the top to locate specific models based on file name, publisher, or date range.

Switch to the Issues sub-tab to view, export, or manage issues identified during coordination. This list displays all the model-related problems, their status, and other key details such as priority, type, and due date. You can right-click on any issue to edit its attributes, update its status, attach files, or export issue details for reporting purposes.

Display Formats

The Models and Issues can be displayed in two different display formats, namely:

  • List View

  • Thumb View (Thumbnail)

The view that you had selected in your last login is displayed when you log in again. If the content is displayed in list view, you can switch to the thumbnail view by clicking on the thumbnailicon.
