Project Navigation

This article will explain the basics of Project navigation on Asite.


  • All accessible Projects can be viewed via the Projects tab.

NOTE: Project filters applied in the Dashboard view will remain active when switching to the Projects tab and navigating within it.


Switch Between List View and Thumbnail View

  • By default, Projects are displayed in List View.

  • To switch to Thumbnail View, select the Thumbnail View icon.

  • To return to List View, select the List View icon.

NOTE: The displayed icon changes based on the current view.


List View

  • In List View, Projects are displayed with metadata columns (fields) that provide additional Project information. These columns are can only be customised in List View and are not available in Thumbnail View.


How Do I Customise Displayed Fields in List View?

  1. From the Projects tab, click Customise (bottom-right).

  2. In Available Fields, select the field to display.

  3. Click the the right arrow to move the field to Selected Fields.

    TIP: To remove a field from the displayed columns, select the field under Selected Fields and click the left arrow to move it back to Available Fields.

  4. In Selected Fields, use the up and down arrows to arrange the display order.

  5. Repeat these steps for each field that needs to be displayed.

  6. Click Update.

NOTE: Only fields listed under Selected Fields are displayed in the Projects tab.

TIP: Multiple fields can be selected at once. On Mac, use Command or Shift. On Windows, use Ctrl or Shift.


How Do I Access Project Settings in List View?

  • Right-click a Project to access the available Project Settings in List View.

Favourite Projects

  • Favourite Projects are identified by a star icon.


How Do I Add a Project to Favourites?

  1. Right-click the required Project.

  2. Select Add as Favourite.


How Do I Remove a Project From Favourites?

  1. Right-click the favourited Project.

  2. Select Remove as Favourite.

NOTE: Projects created by the current user are automatically added to favourites.

TIP: Favourite status can also be managed directly from the Favourite column by selecting the star icon.


Thumbnail View

  • Thumbnail View provides a visual representation of each Project.

  • Hover over a Project thumbnail to view:

    • Project Name

    • Administrator(s)

    • Number of Files

    • Last Published Date

NOTE: To display Project details in Thumbnail View, the Files, Tags, and Last File Uploaded fields must be included in Selected Fields.


How Do I Access Project Settings in Thumbnail View?

  1. Click the Settings icon on a Project thumbnail.

  2. The Project settings will appear.

Favourited Projects

  • Favourite Projects are identified by a star icon.


How Do I Add a Project to Favourites?

  • Select the unfilled star icon on a Project thumbnail to add the Project to favourites.


How Do I Remove a Project From Favourites?

  • Select the filled star icon on a Project thumbnail to remove the Project from favourites.


Project Settings

Project Settings provide access to Project configuration and administration options.

Edit the configuration settings of the selected Project.

Save the current Project structure as a reusable Template for future Projects.

Create roles and assign users, organisations, or user groups to them within the Project.

Define the actions available to each role by assigning privileges.

Configure permissions for each Form type used in the Project.

Add users to the selected Project.

Assign another user to act on behalf of a user when unavailable.

Create and manage custom Project Attributes and Attribute Sets.

Define custom statuses for Forms and assign them to users, organisations, or groups.

Create and assign statuses for Files within the Project.

Add or edit reasons for issuing files in the Project.

Add and manage Project mailboxes.

Add standard Asite Form Templates to the Project.

Create a new Form Template using Asite AppBuilder.

Configure settings for Forms already assigned to the Project.

Create or edit distribution groups within the Project.
