Add Activity

This article explains how to add a new activity to the planner, mapping an activity as well as including and excluding activities.

Updated over a week ago

Users on Asite with the required project-level privilege 'Can Manage Quality Test Plan' can add activities within the quality inspection test plans accessible to them. Click any of the links below to continue.

Below are steps for the same:

1. Open the plan in which activities are to be added.

2. Click on 'Add Activity' to continue.

Here, in the 'Add Activities' screen, you need to select a type of action you want to be performed to complete the activity:

If the 'File' action is selected here, you can map a file folder with the activity and select a file status to close out the activity as part of its configuration. To understand how a user can perform this activity, you can see mapping a project folder with an activity.

If the 'Form' action is selected here, you can map any one form type active on the project for form creation. To understand how a user can perform this activity, you can see mapping a form type with an activity.

Mapping a Project Folder with an Activity

3. When you select the 'File' action, you will be prompted to choose the appropriate file folder to associate with the activity you are creating. Only active folders that are accessible to you will be available. All the files uploaded to this activity will be saved in the selected project folder. The search option allows you to find the required folder or sub-folder within the project.

Then click 'Next' to continue.

4. Select the close-out status for files. Then, a list of file statuses in the selected project appears. You can choose multiple statuses for close-out as required using the checkboxes. When any file added to an activity from the project matches the status selected, that activity (having the file with a matching status) will be considered closed.

The statuses selected using checkboxes will appear at the top. You will have the option to clear status selections one by one using the icon, or clear all status selections simultaneously using the 'Clear' link at the top (available once the statuses are selected).

Once done, click 'Save' to continue.

If clicking on the back arrow at the top left, it will take you to the previous screen with your folder selection as is.

5. Once saved, the configured file action will start appearing as an activity on the 'Add Activity' screen. The selected folder name will be displayed as the default activity name. However, you can click on the same and rename the activity as required.

Mapping a Form Type with an Activity

6. When you select the 'Form' action (as explained in Step 2), you will be prompted to choose the appropriate form type. Only active form types that are accessible to you will be available. The search option allows you to find the required form type.

Once selected, click 'Save' to continue.

7. Once saved, the configured form action will start appearing as an activity on the 'Add Activity' screen.

The chosen form type will serve as the default activity name. However, you can click on it to rename the activity as needed.

Add a Hold Point

8. If you choose the 'Hold Point' action (as outlined in Step 2), a hold point will be incorporated into the activity list. Click 'Save' to continue.

Adding a 'Hold Point' action will restrict the user from performing the next set of activities in the sequence unless the set of activities defined in the sequence is completed before the selected hold point.

9. You will be able to change the sequence of the activities by dragging any particular activity using the icon corresponding to the activity.

10. Click the icon with three dots on the right side opposite the activity name to edit any particular activity, or remove the selected activity if necessary.

11. After clicking on 'Save', all the added activities will appear on the Planner screen. To add more activities, you can always return to the 'Add Activities' screen from the Planner screen or click on any existing activity and use the 'Add Activity' layer.

Include or Exclude Activities

12. Similarly, to exclude any activity from any particular location, mouse over the activity name, select the icon with three dots and select 'Activity not required'. To include it back, mouse over again and select 'Activity required'.
