This article helps you understand different functions available in Universal Web Viewer.

Universal web viewer in Asite is a file viewer optimized for speed and performance as well as cross platform support.

Below is a list of file formats supported in universal web viewer:

Universal web viewer includes various functions as described below. Click on the links to access their detailed help:


Task Tools

Icon

Description

Toggle side panel

To hide or show the side panel of viewer - that includes the thumbnails or outlines view.

Thumbnail

Displays the thumbnail previews for each page of the file - within side panel. Clicking on a thumbnail quickly navigates the viewer to the selected page.

Outlines

To view outlines - within side panel.

Layers

To view existing layers on drawing / PDF files (depends on file type as well as availability of layers) - within side panel. For e.g. a window layer on a drawing file.

You can turn selected layers on or off using the available check boxes.

Note: DWF file format is not supported for viewing layers.

Bookmarks

To view / create / edit bookmarks created by you - within side panel. Only one bookmark can be created per page.

Signatures

To view any existing signatures created on file if any - within side panel.

Pan

To scroll through / move around the file.

Select

To change selection mode.

Page by page

To set page transition as page by page.

Continuous

To set page transition as continuous.

Single

To display one page at a time; the file is treated as a series of pages that the user moves through.

Double

To display two pages at a time, side by side as a spread. The first page always starts on the left column.

Cover

To display two pages at a time, side by side as a spread. The first page always starts on the right column.

Counter-clockwise

To rotate the page 90 degrees counterclockwise at a time.

Clockwise

To rotate the page 90 degrees clockwise at a time.

Zoom Out

To zoom out of the file view.

Zoom In

To zoom in to the file view.

Zoom Level

To set zoom level - based on fixed percentage.

Fit to Width

To set zoom level based on screen width.

Fit to Page

To set zoom level based on page size.

Marquee Zoom

To zoom in by selecting a particular file region.

Hide

To hide markups on the file.

Show

To show markups on the file.

Page Navigation

To navigate to a specific page based on page number.


Markup Tools

The markup toolbar contains related groups of markup tools which can be used to create markup. Markup tools remain active until another tool is selected.

Access Markup Library

To view all markups added to markup library.

Add new markup

To view markup related tools and add a markup.

Open markup for edit

In the markup list, every markup on the file is listed. From the list, you can edit the notes of the markups you created. Tapping on the subject of the markup will take you to the page where the markup is located and select the markup.

Option to edit markup will be available only until it is not associated with any of the file aMessages.

Save

When you click on this icon, all the markups currently on the file will be saved.

Open markup for review

To review all existing markups on the file.

Consolidate markup

To consolidate selected markups on the file.

Freehand tool

To draw freehand shapes.

Text Highlight tool

To highlight text using available color options.

Underline

To make selected markup text underlined.

Squiggly

To add a squiggly underline below the markup text.

Strikeout

To strikeout selected markup text.

Rectangle

To draw a rectangle shape.

Ellipse

To draw an ellipse shape.

Line

To draw a line shape.

Arrow

To draw an arrow shape.

Polyline

To draw a polyline shape.

Polygon

To draw a polygon shape.

Cloud

To draw a cloud shape.

Signature

To add a signature to the markup. Once a signature has been selected you'll also see an overlay of the signature so that you'll be able to exactly position it. Users can make use of their created signatures until related local browser data is not cleared, up to 2 values.

Free text

To add free text to the markup.

Redaction

To hide sensitive information wherever applicable, by using rectangular shape to mark areas for redaction.

Callout

To create a callout on a specific file area.

Stamp

To add an image stamp to the file. It helps in displaying important file related information as a stamp. Stamp images can be in .JPG or .PNG file format.

Add URL

To add a URL to the file which can be opened by other users having access to the markup when they click on the URL icon.

Eraser

To erase freehand shapes or signature annotations.

Style

To apply styling to the selected markup.

Fit Markup Text

To fix the text in selected markup.

Rotate Stamp Image

To rotate the selected stamp image by dragging the icon towards that particular direction.

Stamp All Pages

To apply selected markup stamp to all pages on the file open in viewer.

Bring Stamp to Front

To bring stamp image to front against other stamp images added, if any, on the file open in viewer.

Send Stamp to Back

To send stamp image to back against other stamp images added, if any, on the file open in viewer.

Undo

To undo the previous action.

Redo

To redo the previous action.

Delete

To delete to the selected markup.


Measurement Tools

Measurement annotations can be used to calculate the physical size of a location in the document. You can set a scale (as shown in screenshot below) so that, for example, one inch on the document corresponds to ten feet in real life and display this on the document. Available tools include line distance annotation, polyline perimeter annotation and a polygon area annotation.

Distance measurement

To measure the line distance between two selected points. Choose the icon with required color or use the color picker available upon clicking of down arrow to see further options for setting custom color, opacity, stroke, measurement scale and precision.

Perimeter measurement

To measure the polyline perimeter between two selected points. Choose the icon with required color or use the color picker available upon clicking of down arrow to see further options for setting custom color, opacity, stroke, measurement scale and precision.

Polygon Area measurement

To measure the area in selected polygon. Choose the icon with required color or use the color picker available upon clicking of down arrow to see further options for setting custom color, opacity, stroke, measurement scale and precision.

Circle Area measurement

To measure the area in selected circle. Choose the icon with required color or use the color picker available upon clicking of down arrow to see further options for setting custom color, opacity, stroke, measurement scale and precision.

Rectangle Area measurement

To measure the area in selected rectangle. Choose the icon with required color or use the color picker available upon clicking of down arrow to see further options for setting custom color, opacity, stroke, measurement scale and precision.

Search

To enter text to search for, after which the viewer navigates to the first instance of the found text.

Go full screen (Under Gear icon)

To view the file in full screen mode.

Exit full screen (Under Gear icon)

To exit full screen mode.

Settings

To set the language or theme for the viewer. Available themes - Light mode, Dark mode.
