Q1. Why am I unable to publish a file?

A1. You won't be able to publish a file if you don't have the required folder permission to publish files, i.e. 'Publish', 'Publish & Link', or 'Admin' permission on the folder selected to publish files.

Q2. Can I publish files within the same folder with the same document reference more than once?

A2. Yes. However, such a file will be considered a revision, not a separate record. Each document reference is unique within its respective folder, regardless of the selected project.

Q3. I cannot publish a file, as the 'Doc Ref' and other mandatory fields appear disabled. How do I fix this?

A3. This can happen when an attribute set is applied to the concerned folder with a rule for 'Doc Ref' or other mandatory fields. An attribute set may be applied to all or selected folders under a project. You need to contact the related project administrator to make any changes to the attribute set applicable to a specific project folder.

Q4. How can I remove an attribute set applied to a folder if needed?

A4. As a project administrator, you can remove the attribute set applicable to the selected project. Below are the required steps to be followed:

  1. You can run the standard report 'Folder Attribute Sets' to identify the attribute set applied to a folder.

  2. In the project, you can open the attribute set configuration, deselect the concerned folder from that attribute set, and then save the changes.

Once done, the selected attribute set will no longer apply to that particular folder.

Q5. Is there a file size limit when publishing files on Asite?

A5. No, there is no file size limit when publishing files on Asite. However, the time it takes to upload will depend upon the file size, internet connection speed and availability on the device from which the file is being uploaded.

Q6. Can I upload all file types to the aDrive platform?

A6. aDrive, supports uploading most commonly used file types. The following file types cannot be uploaded for security reasons:

  • .EXE

  • .PHP

  • .HTACCESS

Q7. What happens if a folder or ZIP file contains restricted file types?

A7. If a folder or ZIP file contains restricted file types (such as .EXE, .PHP, or .HTACCESS), the file will not be uploaded. An error message appears stating: “Sorry, this file type upload is not permitted for security reasons, i.e., EXE, .PHP, and .HTACCESS.”

Q1. Why am I unable to publish a file?

Q2. I published an incorrect file in a project folder where auto-sequencing is 'On'. How do I fix this?

A2. Though there can be multiple ways to manage this scenario, you can upload the file correctly with the same document reference as the next revision with the same revision number, so that it can help you identify the correct revision. Next, to avoid further confusion, you can deactivate the incorrect file revision (with the matching revision number).

Q6. How can I delete a file from my local folder after uploading it to Asite Cloud?

A6. You can enable the Delete local files on upload to Asite Cloud setting in the aDrive Desktop preferences. This will automatically remove the local copy after the file is successfully uploaded. This setting is disabled by default and does not apply to one-way or two-way synced folders. For more info click here.

Q7. Will enabling automatic deletion affect synced folders?

A7. Will enabling automatic deletion affect synced folders? No, the automatic deletion setting does not apply to folders configured with two-way sync or one-way sync. In these synced folders, files are managed based on the sync configuration, and local copies are retained to maintain consistency between your device and the Asite Cloud. Automatic deletion only applies to non-synced or upload-only scenarios.

Related to Metadata

Q1. How can I view and edit metadata of my file in aDrive?

A1. You can view file metadata either from File Explorer by right-clicking the file and selecting aDrive > View Metadata, or from the Metadata panel in aDrive Desktop. To view and edit the file should be available locally on your device (for example, through sync or local download). Once available locally, you can open the metadata panel to view or edit attributes.
