Users on Asite can directly perform searches across all their data on the platform using the search bar function. It allows you to search for any required information from a central location.

Basic Search
1. Click on the search option 'Search Asite' in the top header bar and type in your search query.
You can choose what file information you want to search through including the body content of your files:
Metadata Only: This option is selected by default and cannot be deselected. It allows you to search files based on their metadata (i.e. attribute data).
File Content: This option enables you to search for keywords within the body content of your files.
2. Press the 'Enter' key or click the icon to initiate the search and get the results matching the text you entered.
The search results are grouped into various functions and sorted to display the latest information at the top.
Related right-click options are also supported in the search results.
3. The links in the left-hand panel enable you to click and navigate directly to the required search area.
The search results can be of different types:
Type | Description |
Files | To access required file information. Click the file name or Doc Ref to open and view the file. Click here to learn about applying search filters on files based on specific criteria. |
aMessages | To access all the relevant discussions. Click on the title of an aMessage to view its related file discussion thread. |
Models | To access the required model file information, mouse over the model's thumbnail image and click the 'View Model' option to open and view the model. |
Apps | To access the required form information. Click on the form title to open and view the form. Click here to learn about applying search filters on forms based on specific criteria. |
Advanced Search Features
Asite by default supports 'Begin with' search criteria i.e. if searching for 'Foun' then search results will include words starting with 'Foun' i.e. 'Foundation.
To perform a 'Contains' search, an asterisk (*) needs to be prefixed to the search criteria i.e. if searching for '*dation', search results will include words containing 'dation' (For example, Foundation).
A simple keyword search can be performed across:
Title | Description |
Search using file metadata | This includes document metadata such as file name, document reference, revision number, revision notes, purpose of issue, status, and any configurable attribute. Click here to learn about applying search filters on files based on specific criteria. |
Search for file content | Includes content within the uploaded files. |
Search aMessages | Includes discussion title and discussion content. |
Search apps | This includes form metadata such as form title, user ref, and app content within the AppBuilder app messages. Click here to learn about applying search filters on forms based on specific criteria. |
Search messages | This includes the Asite Hub message metadata such as document type, document number, document date, etc., and document content held within individual messages. |
Search project models | This includes the project model names and their attributes, and the model content held within the individual IFC model file. |
