Users on Asite can quickly drag and drop files from local device storage into Asite to publish them to a project folder on Asite.

Pre-requisites:

Permission as mentioned below, on the project folder in which a file is to be published:

  • To publish files, 'Publish' or 'Publish & Link' or 'Admin' permission.
Folder permissions defined at the default or role level can be overridden. Click here for detailed help (See point 4).

Below are the steps to publish a file using drag and drop option:

1. To publish files via the drag-and-drop method, select the required project and its destination folder.

2. Once a folder is selected, you can directly drag one or more files for publishing as needed. A drop area will appear on the screen as shown below.

3. Once you drop the files in the specified area, the file publishing process is initiated immediately based on the folder configuration.

  • If the selected project folder is enabled for 'simple upload', the file will be published right away without any extra steps. Click here for detailed help publishing files when 'simple upload' is enabled on the selected project folder.

  • Irrespective of whether the selected folder is enabled for 'simple upload', you can enter attribute details as required. Click here for detailed help publishing files with attribute details.

  • If the name of any file selected for publishing matches the name of an existing file in the chosen project folder, it is considered a revision of that particular file in the project. You can click here for detailed help on publishing a revision of an existing file in a project.

4. To publish more files, click 'Select Files' and select the files from your device.

5. To remove one or more of the selected files from upload, click the icon against the name of those files.

6. Once done, click 'Upload' to finish publishing the selected files. While doing so, an activity centre will appear. It displays the progress of the upload of each file and automatically disappears once the files are published successfully.
