Publish Files via the Simple Upload Option

This article helps you understand how to publish files using the Simple Upload option.

Updated this week

With Asite, users can directly publish files without entering any extra information. This method of publishing is called 'Simple Upload'.

Pre-requisites:

Permission as mentioned below, on the project folder in which a file is to be published:

  • To publish files, 'Publish' or 'Publish & Link' or 'Admin' permission.
Folder permissions defined at the default or the role level can be overridden. Click here for detailed help (See point 4).

Setting as mentioned below, on the project folder in which a file is to be published:

  • The 'Enable Simple Upload' setting should be on.

Below are the steps to publish a file using the 'simple upload' method:

1. Select the project and the destination folder.

2. Click the 'Upload' dropdown and select 'Files' to publish.

Alternatively, right-click on the folder name and select 'New' then select 'Add Files'.

3. A layered page will appear.

4. You can select one or more files by dragging and dropping the required files to the area from your local device storage.

If the name of any file selected for publishing matches the name of an existing file in the chosen project folder, it is considered a revision of that particular file in the project. You can click here for detailed help publishing a revision of an existing file in a project.

5. Once the required files are selected, click the 'Upload' button to initiate the publishing process. An activity centre appears, displaying the progress of the upload of each file. It automatically disappears once they are published successfully.

In the case of 'simple upload', certain file details will be automatically determined by the system and filled in the relevant file attribute information as follows:

  • doc ref and doc title based on the file name

  • default status and default purpose of issue based on project configuration

  • file privacy based on project and folder configuration
