Upload a File via Simple Upload Option

This article helps you understand how to upload files using simple upload option.

With Asite, users have an option to directly upload files without the need to enter any extra information. This method of upload is called as 'Simple Upload'.

Pre-requisites:

Permission as mentioned below, on the project folder in which a file is to be uploaded:

  • To upload or publish files, 'Publish' or 'Publish & Link' or 'Admin' permission.
    Folder permissions defined at default level or at role level can be over-ridden. Click here for detailed help (See point 4).

Setting as mentioned below, on the project folder in which a file is to be uploaded:

  • 'Enable Simple Upload' setting should be on.

Below are the steps to upload a file using simple upload method:

1. To upload files using simple upload, you need to select the project and then the destination folder.

2. Click on 'Upload' dropdown and select 'Files' to upload.

Alternately, right click on the folder name and select 'New' then select 'Add Files'.

3. A layered page will appear.

4. You can select one or more files by dragging and dropping required files to the area from your local device storage.

If the name of any of the files selected for upload matches the name of an existing file in the selected project folder, it is considered as a revision of that particular file in the project. Click here for detailed help on how to upload a revision of an existing file in a project.

6. Once required files are selected, click on 'Upload' button to initiate the upload process. While doing so, an activity center will appear. It displays the progress of upload of each of those files, and automatically disappears once files are uploaded successfully.

In case of simple upload, certain file details will be automatically determined by the system in filled in the relevant file attribute information as follows:

  • doc ref and doc title based on file name

  • default status and default purpose of issue based on project configuration

  • file privacy based on project and folder configuration
