File templates help you compile a library of templates. These templates can be used by anyone with access to a project folder to create files quickly, keeping the basic file content intact based on the selected file template.

Here are the steps to create a file from a template. Before doing this, you must install the aDrive Desktop app on your PC.

1. Navigate to the project folder where you need to create a file from a file template using the aDrive Desktop.

2. Click the 'Upload' dropdown and select 'Create File'.

3. A layered screen will appear listing the file templates you can access. You can search for the required file template by entering a keyword.

You can also download the file template by clicking the file type icon.

4. Select a template from which you need to create a file.

5. A prompt will appear allowing you to download the aDrive Desktop installer or log in to the aDrive Desktop app if installed on your PC.

If downloading the aDrive Desktop installer, follow the steps for installation as needed.

6. When selecting the file template from the web application and logging in to aDrive Desktop to open a copy of the chosen template for editing, a browser prompt will appear asking for permission to open the link with the aDrive Desktop application. Here, you need to allow permission for the web browser to continue opening the link with the aDrive Desktop application.

7. The copy of the selected file template will start appearing in the aDrive Desktop application. Click the edit icon opposite the file name to open the file in its native application and start editing.

8. Once the required editing is done, follow the steps to publish a file with aDrive Desktop to complete creating a file from a template.
