Unlock Activities on Files

This article helps you understand how to remove activity locks on files once applied.

The following are the steps to unlock a particular activity on an existing file:

1. Select the project folder under the 'Files' tab. Select the file on which the file activity is to be unlocked.

2. Right-click on the file record and select the 'Activity Locks' option.

3. Clicking 'Activity Locks', a layered page populates on the files listing with an option to unlock locked activities on the selected file.

('Discussions' to be replaced with 'Reviews' in case comment review is enabled in the relevant project settings)

In the case of placeholders, the unlock option is available for the 'Edit Attribute' activity only.

In the case of linked files, the unlock option is available for 'File Distribution' and 'Discussions' activities only.

When you choose a combination of placeholders and linked files to apply activity locks, the lock option affects only the file linked to another folder.

When selecting a combination of linked and normal files to apply activity locks, the unlock option will work only on normal files.

When selecting a combination of placeholders, linked files, and normal files, the unlock option will again work only on normal files.

4. You can manually unlock locked files from the 'Activity Locks' window by clicking the buttons opposite the activity names. Locked activities show a lock sign, while unlocked activities show an unlock sign.

To unlock all activities simultaneously, click the 'Unlock All' button at the top.

5. You can also unlock file activities by selecting multiple files. When you do this, it is essential to tick the checkboxes for the file activities that need unlocking.

6. Click the 'Save' button to apply the changes.
