This article helps you understand how to download your files from within Asite.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

You can download and save a copy of the files that are accessible to you. Below are the steps to download a file from your Asite project:

1. Select the project folder under the 'Files' tab.

2. Select files to download and click the option at the top right of the file listing page. This displays the 'Download Files' window as described below.

To download a file, you need the privilege of 'Can Download Documents' on the project where the file is stored and a folder permission of 'View and Download' or above on the folder containing the file to download.

The 'Download Files' window contains different options as described below:

Certain options will be displayed depending on whether they apply to the selected files. For example, the 'Include Secondary File(s)' option won't appear if no secondary file is available in any selected files.

Documents

Parent Document - To include the selected file (i.e. the parent file) for download.

Include Secondary File(s) - Include secondary files for download, if any.

Include XREF - To download single/multiple files including external references, if any.

Discussions & Markups

Associated Documents - To download file associations on the comments or markups on selected files, if any.

Attached Documents - To download file attachments on comments or markups on selected files, if any.

Include Markups - Include markups created on the selected file as part of downloading the file, if any.

Note: In case the project configuration was changed from Thin Client Viewer (now discontinued) to Universal Web Viewer, required information related to markups (if applicable) will appear in the below sequence:

1. Consolidated view of all public markups created in Thin Client Viewer (includes all file pages).

2. Private markups created on file which were released as public after the viewer was changed from Thin Client Viewer to Universal Web Viewer (includes only those file pages having private markups released as public).

3. A consolidated view of all file markups created in Universal Web Viewer, including public and private markups on all file pages.

Other Options

Rename Files with Doc Ref - To rename downloaded files to document reference.

Append Doc Title - Include document title in the file name, while renaming downloaded files.

Append Version No - Include version number in the file name, while renaming downloaded files.

Append Rev No - Include revision number in the file name, while renaming downloaded files.

Recreate Folder Structure in Zip / Download Location - To recreate the project's folder structure in the zip/download location.

Lock for Editing - This ensures that the file is locked, and only the user who has locked it can upload its new revision.

Once you're done, click the 'Download' button at the bottom of the popup. The file will start downloading to your local device storage per your download preferences.
