This article helps you understand how to upload a file edited via aSync application.

Updated over a week ago

After editing a file via aSync, Asite users will be able to upload i.e. publish the revised file as a new file revision on Asite into the relevant project folder. Below are the steps to upload a file edited via aSync:

1. Open the aSync window containing a record of the file you edited.

There are two upload options available - 'Upload & Finish' and 'Upload & Continue'. Below is the difference between these two options:

'Upload & Finish' will upload the selected revision as well as remove the existing checkout on file.

'Upload & Continue' will only upload the selected revision. The existing checkout on file will remain as it is.

To continue editing the file further before publishing it as a revision, click on 'Edit' icon. The file will open for editing in default native application configured in your computer for the selected file format as applicable.

To view edited revisions on the file, click on 'Show revisions of the File' icon. It will show all the revisions of file saved via aSync in your local device. You can click on the eye icon to view each of the revisions, based on which you can decide which one to upload and then use either 'Upload & Finish' or 'Upload & Continue' option to upload corresponding file revision as explained above.

In case the file opened for editing gets closed due to any reason whatsoever, you can always click on edit icon in aSync window to resume editing the corresponding file.

You will be notified by aSync if the file you have locally edited via aSync has a newer version of the same file available on Asite web application. In such a scenario, you will be be displayed a prompt with options.

2. Select an appropriate option to continue. The upload window will appear based on the folder configuration. In case of simple upload, the upload window will not appear and the file would be directly uploaded to relevant project folder in Asite Cloud.

In case of standard upload (upload with attributes), click here for detailed help on how to upload revision of an existing file (step 3 onwards). Please note the option to distribute a file is not available while uploading a file via aSync, though it can always be distributed later from web application. Click here for detailed help on how to distribute a file.

3. You will be able to view list of all files recently uploaded via aSync as a separate tab 'Recent Uploads' within the aSync app window.

Click on 'Open in Webapp' button to view the file in Asite web application.

Click on 'Open & Edit' button to edit the file. The file will open for editing in default native application configured in your computer for the selected file format as applicable.
